This refers to the Nuclear. Regulatory Conmission (NRC) inspection conducted by
Ron~Gibbs on May:21-25, 1990. The inspection included-a review-of' activities
related to the Diagnostic Evaluation Team Inspection (DET) at your Brunswick
'

At the conclusion of. the inspection, the findings were discussed.

-with. those members of your staf.f identified in the enclosed Inspection Report.
Areas : examined during the inspection are identified . i.n the report. Within
these ' areas, the inspection consisted of selective examination of procedures
and - representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of
'
activities iniprogress.

WithinJ the= scope: of the inspection, no violations - or deviations were
lidentified.
'

Inspection report 50-325/87-32, 50-324/87-31 identified four violations
'
concerning corrective action for deficiencies identified- by: site Engineering
~
Work Requestsf(EWRs).
Similar concerns were identified by the DET in-
paragraph <2.1.6.6 of.their-report. Again, during this inspection additional'
concerns were raised in'the area. These concerns were based on:. a review of -
e the: computer. pr.intouts for open EWRs/PIDs -(Project Identifications),' and were
also based on the specific review of EWRs discussed in pa'ragraph 2.h 'of this
'
report.
As a result, a separate inspection ~to re ;ew the EWR area was,
scheduled for the week of. June 11,1990. ' Your attention is directed to the
results- of that inspection which is documented in inspection report--
50-325,324/90-23.

In accordance with- Section 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," Part ~2,
Title 10, Code of Federal Regulations, a copy of this letter and its enclosure'
will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
