Dear Mr. Keenan:'

On October 10,1998, the NRC completed an inspection at your Brunswick reactor facility. The
enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
During the six weeks covered by this inspection period, our inspectors found that your staff
- generally took a safety conscious approach to the activities conducted at the Brunswick plant.

However, one violation of NRC requirements was identified.
l
The NRC has concluded that information regarding the reasons for the violation, and the
corrective actions taken and planned to correct the violation and prevent recurrence, is already
adequately addressed on the docket in the enclosed inspection report. Therefore, you are not
required to respond to this letter unless the description herein does not accurately reflect your
corrective actions or your position. In that case, or if you choose to provide additional

information, you should follow the instructions specified in the enclosed Notice.

During the inspection period, the NRC received a response dated September 10,1998 to
Notice of Violation 50-325(324)/98-07-02,03. We have evaluated your response and found
that it meets the requirements of 10 CFR 2.201. We will examine the implementation of your
corrective actions during future inspections.
