ENCLOSURE 2 Management Meeting Summary i
i A meeting was held at the NRC's Region II office with Carolina Power and Light l
(CP&L) on August 15, 1990, to discuss the. implementation of the corrective l
action-plan for the unsatisfactory operator requalification program at the 3
Brunswick site.
Following opening remarks by the NRC Regional Administrator J
on CP&L management effectiveness, CP&L's Vice President of Special Nuclear Projects outlined CP&L's resolve to correct the noted deficiencies in the operator requalification program.
A formal presentation on the CP&L corrective action plan was given by the Team Leader of the Root Cause Assessement (RCA)' Team (Enclosure 3).
The NRC staff l
questioned the CP&L management in a number of arease related to the implementation of the RCA.
Specifically,-the NRC staff asked for clarification of the methods of incorporating good performance practices noted at Shearon Harris. into the Brunswick plan, how feedback from:the worker level is to be1 processed by management, and the philosophy for a four licensed operator shift staffing plan.
The Senior Vice President and others responded to these inquiries and provided specifics on' CP&L's intent to increase management involvement at the site..The Acting Division Director for Reactor Safety closed the meeting by thanking CP&L for the presentation.
