. Gentlemen:

By letter dated October 30,1998 (Serial: BSEP 98-0210), as supplemented by letter dated

. January 11,1999 (Serial:- BSEP 99-0002), Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) Company submitted a report required by Technical Specification (TS) 5.6.6, " Post Accident Monitoring (PAM)

Instrumentation Report," for the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Unit No. 2. The report provided notification that temperature element 2-CAC-TE-1258-22, which provides an input to the Drywell Temperature PAM Function for Unit 2, had failed. The report further stated that repairs could not be completed with Unit 2 online, and as such, a temporary change to Emergency Response Data System (ERDS) Data Point D23C0315 was made to ensure accurate temperature monitoring by use of a substitute point.

l On May 14,1999, during the Unit 2 refueling outage (i.e., B214RI), CP&L completed repair of l

' temperature element 2-CAC-TE-1258-22, and restored point D23C0315 to its original l configuration. In accordance with 10 CFR 50, Appendix E, Section VI.3.a, CP&L is providing l notification that data point D23C0315 has been restored to its original configuration. The restoration of data point D23C0315 did not require a revision to the ERDS Data Point Library }
