Dear Administrative Judges:

In its January 7, 1987 Memorandum and Order, this Board directed that responses to Applicants' Petition Under 10 CFR 2.758 and 10 CFR 50.47(c) with Respect to the Regulations Requiring Planning for a Plume Exposure Pathway Emergency Planning Zone in Excess of a One-Mile Radius be filed no later than January 27, 1987. The Board further asked for a date certain on which a written response can be completed if a complete response cannot be filed by January 27, 1987.

The State of Maine, by and through Attorney General James E. Tierney, has been admitted to this proceeding as an

" interested state" pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR l 2.715(c). Maine expects to provide written comments addressing the Applicants' Petition but has been unable to complete its response prior to the January 27 deadline imposed by this Board. Rather than provide a partial response, which may be modified substantially in preparation of final response, the State of Maine hereby advises the Board that Maine's written response can be completed on or before Monday, February 9, 1987.
