INDUSTRY STUDIES ON SPENT FUEL POOL RISK
Dear Ms. Hendricks:
' in the Planning and Technology Forum hosted by NEl and the Electrical Power Research
. Institute (EPRI) on October 18 - 20,1999, a presentation was given by Mr. Kenneth Canavan of GPU Nuclear Corporation on some of the details in the Oyster Creek Long-Term Spent Fuel l_
Pool Cooling (LTSFPC) Conceptual Design Risk Evaluation. We believe this study could l
provide useful information for our study of spent fuel pool risk at decommissioning plants. We also understand that the spent fuel pool probabilistic risk assessment for the Seabrook pla' t is n
. currently being updated. We are also interested in including this assessment in our study. If the updated version is not yet available, we would be interested in the original assessment. We i
have tried to inciude industry perspective in our study and believe this would provide an l
p opportunity to have work performed by industry members considered. However, we are s
approaching the end of our study and would appreciate that you provide these studies as soon j
l as possible so that we may maximize their bener.t.
