A DOCKET NO: 50 369 UNIT: McGuire 1 DATE: 10/15/90 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTH: September 1990 McGuire Unit 1 began the month of Geptember operating at t84 power due to a feedwater heater tube leak. A power incre.-- com.tenced at 0255 on 09/02, and the unit reached 100% full power . 140 on 09/02.

At 1003 on 09/05, a power reduction was began due to a steam Icak on the high pressure turbine. The unit was held at 60% power from 1345 on 09/05 to 0600 on 09/10 to repair the steam leak. During the subsequent power increase, a digital electro hydraulic turbine runback alarm was received at 0651 on 09/10. The unit ran back to 56% power. After repairs to a pressure switch in the runback circuitry, a power increase was commenced at 1815 on 09/10. During the power increase, a plug blew out of the high pressure turbine, and a power reduction to 60% was begun at 0955 on 09/11. The unit was held at 60% power from 1325 on 09/11 to 1500 on 09/12 for leak repairs. The unit reached 94% power at 0205 on 09/13, and was held there for turbine. steam leak repairs until 0315 on 09/15. The unit reached 100% full power at 0610 on 09/15, and operated at 100% full power for the remainder of the month.
