1 DOCKET: 50 - 369 UNIT: McGuire 1 Date: 06/13/97 NARRATIVE

SUMMARY

MONTil: May,1997 McGuire Unit 1 began the month of May in end-of-cycle 1 I refueling and steam generator replacement outage. The refueling and steam generator replacement outage has spanned a total of 94.33 days and was scheduled for 100 days. On 05/19/97 at 1235 the unit was placed on-line. The turbine overspeed trip test was performed on 05/19/97 at 1735. The unit returned to service on 05/20/97 at 0602. During power escalation, the unit held at 30% power from 05/20/97 at 1701 to 05/23/97 at 0353 for secondary chemistry and testing. The unit held at 38% power and 26% power from 05/23/97 at 0822 to 2130 and from 2150 to 2211 due to unit load transient testing. The unit was removed from service on 05/24/97 at 0134 due to high pressure turbine leak. The unit was placed on-line on 05/24/97 at 1834. The unit increased to 78%

power and held from 05/25/97 at 1818 to 05/26/97 at 0145 due to unit load transient testing. On 05/30/97 at 0521 rapid down-power initiated and the unit was taken off-lire at 0526 due to "lC2" turbine intercept valve oil leak. The unit returned to service on 05/31/97 at 0242. The unit returned to 100% full power on 05/31/97 at 2306 and operated at or near 100% full power the remainder of the month.
