Dear Mr. Denton:

Duke Power Company is filing herewith Amendment No. 69 to its Application for Licenses for the McGuire Nuclear Station which is under construction pursuant

to Construction Permit CPPR-84. This filing includes three signed original copies of the amendment with attachments consisting of updated General Informa-tion pursuant to 10 CFR 50.33, " Revision 43 to the Final Safety Analysis Report" i and Revision 6 to Report No. MDS/PDG-77-1, " Evaluation of the Effects of Postu-lated Pipe Failures Outside Containment for McGuire Nuclear Station". This filing also includes 15 additional conformed copies of the amendment with an t

additional 45 copies of Revision 43 to the Final Safety Analysis Report and 22 copies of Revision 6 to Report No. MDS/PDG-77-1.

! Revision 43 updates various sections of the F3AR to support licensing of Unit 2. Ma 3r items in this revision include:

( 1) Chapter 13 changes to reflect the recent Duke Power reorganization I and to include updated personnel resumes

2) Updated operator requalification program description
3) Reanalysis of the limiting LOCA break to demonstrate that nc NUREG-0630 burst / blockage penalty need be applied
4) ReanalysP, results to account for reduced boron concentration f rom 20,000 ppm to 2000 ppm
5) Inclusions of various modifications accomplished pursuant to 10 CFR 50.59
6) Miscellaneous changes and clarifications }

S Revision 6 to Report No. MDS/PDG 77-1 provides a clarification of several assumptions in the pipe break analysis.

Copies of this amendment 69 have been distributed in accordance with the requirements of Part 2.101 of the Commission's regulations and the instructions contained in Mr. Roger S. Boyd's letter of August 6, 1976.
