Request for time extension for completion of liRC's HEU-LEU Conversion Questionnaire (Facility Licence R-66, Docket 50-62)
Dear Mr. Mendonca!
We are in receipt of your letter dated 11ovember 15, 1990 and the enclosed list of questions pursuant to the conversion of the UVAR to low-enriched uranium fuel. Respectfully, I must ask for an extension of the 60-days response period allotted (with a January 15, 1991 duc date) in view oft 1) the 11 day delay in rocciving the questionnaire (Thanksgiving mail slowdown), 2) the Christmas season upon us, and 3) the requirement of a meeting of our Reactor Safety Committee to approve liRC mandated safety limits based on process variables. A month's extension should enable us to complete this phase of the conversion process, and would be in keeping with the conversion schedule which foresees UVAR fuel exchange occurring at the end of 1991.
