Subject:

NRC Request for Additional Information (TAC No. MA3737); University of Virginia Reactor, Docket No. 50-62, License R-66.

Dear Mr. Adams:

1 We have nearly completed our response to the NRC's Request for Additional Information, which was dated November 23,1998. However, given that the holiday season is upon us, it will be

{

l impossible for the Reactor Safety Committee to meet, review and approve the numerous revisions made to previously proposed UVAR TS amendments by the current 30-day response deadline.

For this reason, we request a thirty day tirne extension (until January 23,1999).

Please contact me at (804) 982-5440, or at rum @ Virginia.EDU, should you have need for additional information.
