Dear Mr. Adams:
Please accept this letter as official notification to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of the University of Virginia's intent to decommission the UVAR reactor, it is anticipated that the reactor will cease operations permanently on or about July 1,1998.
In correspondence dated April 1,1998, Mr. Robert Mulder, the Reactor Director, made reference to these intentions in a response to a Notice of Deviation. This correspondence confirms his earlier statement.
