NRC Rbquest for Additional Information (TAC No. M95506) for the University of Virginia Reactor, Docket No. 50-62, License R-66, pertaining to a TS Amendment Request.
Dear Mr. Adams:
We are continuing to gather information related to the NRC request for additional information regarding U.Va.'s proposed TS amendment of May 28,1996. The principal piece ofinformation desired by the NRC requires us to quantify the amount by which a UVAR core would be subcritical with six fuel elements loaded under the most reactivity-wise " unfavorable" configuration. To get this number, we must model such a core and perform calculations on a computer. These calculations are in progress. However, they will not be ready within the thirty day reply period given by the NRC. In consideration of the time and effort involving the computations, and the need to take this analysis before our reactor safety committee prior to
. sending our reply to the NRC, we are hereby requesting a 30 day extension to the reply deadline.
