Braidwood Unit 1 Steam Generator (SG) Tube Interim Plugging Criteria

Dear Mr. Russell:

Attached is one copy of letter report NSD-TAP-3069, "Braidwood 1: Technical Support for Cycle 5 S/G Interim Plugging Criteria, Pre-WCAP Release," dated 4/21/94. This report provides information in support of the implementation of a bobbin probe voltage-based interim plugging criterion to preclude unnecessarily plugging tubes due to the occurrence of outer diameter indiated stress corrosion cracking at the tube support plate irtersection in the Braidwood Unit I steam generators. This report contains

. information which is proprietary to Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Accordingly, we request that this information be withheld fmm public disclosure.

We will comply with the requirements of 10 CFR 2.790 to provide proprietary and non-proprietary versions of the above material together with an affidavit as soon as the proprietary and non-proprietary versions have been prepared. We will submit the total required number of copies of the proprietary and non-proprietary versions of the information and the required affidavit at that time.

In the meantime, we have provided a copy for your information and use. M. P. Siemien, Esq. of the NRC Of6ce of the General Counsel, has advised Westinghouse that she concurs with this procedure.

We expect to be able to fully comply with the requirements for the proprietary and non-proprietary versions of the information and an accompanying affidavit within four weeks.

Prabhu The attached preliminary release of WCAP-14046 (Westinghouse Proprietary Class 2) is provided for transmittal to CECO in support of the IPC submittal for Braidwood-1. The final WCAP is expected to be released in about two weeks.

Completion of the WCAP review for release is not expected to result in changes that significantly alter the results and conclusions of the attached draft report. If the review process should result in significant change, CECO will be immediately notified of the change.
