SUMMARY

LICENSEE: CONSTELLATION ENERGY NUCLEAR GROUP, LLC. AND ENTERGY NUCLEAR NORTHEAST FACILITY: NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION AND JAMES A. FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On March 22, 2012, at 4:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Scriba Town Hall in Oswego, New York. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Nine Mile Point and FitzPatrick for 2011.

A notice of the open house was issued on March 7, 2012, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML12066A142.

ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and FitzPatrick for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2011, as documented in our letter dated March 5, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12061A297 for Nine Mile Point and ADAMS Accession No. ML12061A061 for FitzPatrick). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Nine Mile Point and FitzPatrick can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.

Members of the public, State officials and members of the media attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Nine Mile Points and FitzPatricks performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
