SUMMARY

LICENSEES: ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS INC (Entergy) and EXELON NUCLEAR GENERATION COMPANY, LLC. (Exelon)

FACILITIES: JAMES A. FITZPATRICK NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (FitzPatrick) and NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION (Nine Mile Point)

SUMMARY

OF PUBLIC MEETING On April 20, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., at the Scriba Municipal Building in Oswego, NY, the NRC held an open-house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at both FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point for 2016.

A notice of the open-house was issued March 15, 2017, and posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML17076A082. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC had poster boards, fact sheets, and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2016, as documented in our letters dated March 1, 2017 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17059D342 for FitzPatrick and ML17059C091 for Nine Mile Point). The NRC poster boards and fact sheets included background on the Reactor Oversight Process. Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station can be found on the NRC's web site at:

Members of the media and state and local officials attended the open-house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding FitzPatrick and Nine Mile Point performance, and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
