BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BfN) - UNIT 2 - SMALL BORE PIPING PROGRAH RIGOROUS ANALYSIS POPULATION y

-

Reference:

NRC Inspection Report No. 50-260/89-36 dated September 21, 1989 During the NRC audit of the Unit 2 and common smsil bore piping and tubing programs in August 1989, an issue was raised regarding the sample size used to validate attributes for the horizontal slice portion of the small bore program. This issue was documented as Unresolved Item Engineering Mechanics  !

Group (EMG)-029 in the referenced NRC Inspection Report 89-36. NRC requested  ;

that an additional 100' supports be evaluated based on rigorous analysis of the piping, thereby achieving a total rigorous analysis population of [

approximately 10 percent of the BfN Unit 2 restart scope, j It is TVA's understanding that written confirmation of this commitment.wlli i serve to close this unresolved issue. l The enclosure confirms TVA's commitment to perform this additional analysis  !

and support evaluation. The required evaluations will be performed on piping  !

currently within the approved restart boundary, which had previously been evaluated by the attribute walkdown procedure, j This evaluation will be completed before restart of BfN Unit 2. l
