Dear Mr. Denton:

In the Matter of the ) Docket Nos. 50-259 Tennessee Valley Authority ) 50-260 50-296 In accordance with 10 CFR Parts 50.59 and 50.90 we are requesting an amendment to license numbers DPR-33, DPR-52, and DPR-68 for the operatica of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant units 1, 2, and 3. The requested amendment would allow TVA to store low-level radioactive trash onsite in an amount not to exceed 1,320 curies total. Detailed information demonstrating the acceptability of the proposed waste storage facility is enclosed.

The information provided incorporates concerns expressed by members of your staff in a meeting on January 16, 1980. We request your approval of this requested license amenduent as soon as possible.

In accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR Part 170.22, we have determined this proposed amendment to be Class III for unit 1 and Class I for units 2 and 3. These classificetions are based on the facts that the proposed amendment for unit 1 involves a single safety issue which does not involve a significant hazard consideration and the proposed amendments for unit 2 and 3 are duplicates of the unit 1 proposed amendment.

The remittance for $4,800 ($4,000 for unit 1 and $800 for units 2 and 3) is being wired to the NRC, Attention: Licensing Fee Management Branch.
