Attachment Response to IE Bulletin Revision 79-17 Our original review addressed all safety-related stainless steel piping systems which are greater than 2 1/2 inches in diameter and contain stagnant, oxygenated, borated water and was not concerned with only Engineered Safeguard systems. The systems identified in the original review included those serving as Engineered Safeguards which contain essentially air saturated borated water where dynamic flow conditions do not exist on a continuous basis as well as such non-engineered safeguard systems as the Residual Heat Removal System and portions of the Reactor Coolant System. Because of the bulletin revision and the new definition of " stagnant", inspections of the non-engineered safeguard systems identified in the original review will be excluded.
