Re: Docket 50-289SF 'TMI - Un!t Ir Middletown, PA

Dear Mr. Ahearne:

I am writing to you on behalf of the Association of New Hampshire Utilities, which is ccmcrised of six (6) electric, four (4) cas, and two (2) water utilities in New Hampshire with a common interest in both state and federal policy respecting the general develocment and use of energy resources and facilities. Our association urces the prompt restart of TMI Unit I.

The continued shutdown of TMI-I is unreasonable and un-necessary and, tremendously expensive.

It is our understanding that TMI-I is undamaged, and its continued shutdown results in the reauirement to use oil for generation of electricity. In our view, TMI-I should be re-started as soon as possible to provide a generation capacity from a fuel which does not have to be inported. This nation's enercy independence is partiy dependent upon your decision to use the available non-fossil fuel cacadity,.in.this.cpuntry..

We urge you and your Commission to take whatever steps are necessary for the immediate restart of TMI-I.
