Maintenance/Surveillance RG&Eisparticipating intheEPRIsponsored Reliability CenteredMaintenance Programdeveloped toachievemoreeffective plantmaintenance acrosstheindustry.
Actionsarebeingtakentobuildonthestrengthofourtechnically capableandhighlymotivated maintenance staff.Weareworkingtoimprovetheinterface between'hemaintenance andqualitycontrolorganizations.
Partofthisimprovement processistoinvolvequalitycontrolpersonnel inworkpreplanning.
Amajorprocedures upgradeprojectisunderwayandwewillcontinuetoreinforce procedural adherence.
Asdescribed inourmeetingofOctober3,1989,wenotethatmaintenance oftheoffsitepowersystemispreplanned andconducted'y theRG&EElectricSubstations Department andincludesplantnotification andworkstartauthorization.
Additional measureshavebeenimplemented recentlytoprovidegreaterassurance thatsystemalignment ismaintained following maintenance activityassociated withoffsitepowersystemsatStation204andStation13A.EmerencPrearednessRG&Etakesprideinitsexcellent Emergency Preparedness program.Toensurethatthishighqualityprogramissustained, wehaveprovidedadditional staffingintheEPorganization.
Wenotethatasanexampleoftheinnovative approachtakeninourEPprogram,Rochester Institute ofTechnology studentswereusedasnewsmediapersonnel inthe1988exercise.
Thestudentsinjectedanewenthusiasm intoanactivitywhichhadbecomesomewhatroutinetoregularnewsmediastaff.~SecuritOursecurityforcecontinues tobewellmanaged,effectively trainedandhighlymotivated aspointedoutinyourassessment.
Weconcurthatourphysicalsecuritysystemrequiressomeimprovement andwehavetakenimmediate actiontoaddressthedeficiencies.
Weareintheprocessofconducting acomprehensive assessment ofallstationsecurityprogramsandsystems.TheSecurityPlaniscurrently beingrewritten toprovideanaccurate, consistent andup-to-date plan.
TheDirectorofCorporate Securityisdirectlyinvolvedinoverviewandconsultation withplantsecurity.
