The  unit entered this reporting period in    Mode 1 and  stable at  86%
RTP.
A Reactor trip occurred September 21, 1996 at 2349 EST as a result of a spurious Main'Transformer Sudden Over-Pressure signal most probably induced by a lightning strike.
A descent to Mode 5 was commenced September 24, 1996 at 0020 EST to facilitate  two Source Range Detector replacements.       Following the detector maintenance, the unit was placed back on line and Reactor power was  stabilized at 88.5% RTP September 30, 1996 at 0257 EST.
The  unit exited this reporting period in Mode 1 at 88.5% RTP.
There were no challenges    to the pressurizer safety valves or power operated  relief  valves.
Gross  electrical generation for the    month of September  was 493540 MWH.
