Medford to NRC dated            April 9, 1990, "BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN)  UNITS 1, 2, AND            3, NRC INSPECTION REPORT NOS. 50-259/89-16, 50-260/89-16, AND            50-296/89-16 RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION" TVA  committed in the referenced letter to complete the following two commitments by August 15, 1990:        (1),Essential mechanical calculations performed by the contractor will be reviewed for errors "and the errors corrected. The errors will be evaluated for impact on calculation results and conclusions and (2) Area walkdowns will be completed.
This  letter is  provided to extend the completion date for these items.            The first  commitment, correction of errors in mechanical calculations, will be completed by December 3, 1990. The errors in the subject calculations have been identified and the calculations are in the process of being corrected.
The second commitment$    performance of area walkdowns,        will be  completed by December 3, 1990 based    on the  current unit 2'restart schedule.        Current levels of maintenance and    modification activities in the plant make          it to perform the area walkdowns by August 15, 1990. The area walkdown procedure inappropriate has been drafted and is currently in the review and approval cycle.
