==Dear Hr.Chairman:==
On March 10, 1986, I submitted TVA's Revised Corporate Nuclear Performance Plan to the NRC.At that time, I also indicated that we will be submitting plans which address the NRC's plant-specific requests for information at a future date.This submittal provides the Browns Ferry Nuclear Performance Plan.This plan presents a response to enclosure 2 of Hr.Dircks's September 17, 1985 letter which requests information regarding TVA's Browns Ferry specific actions to correct problems in the management of TVA's nuclear activities.
The Browns Ferry Nuclear Performance Plan in combination with the Revised Corporate Nuclear Performance Plan describe the basis for both the short-and long-term recovery of TVA related to the restart of the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant.The TVA Board of Directors was advised last month that Browns Ferry unit 2 could be restarted in the summer of 1987, subject to budget approval and lifting of the hiring freeze on certain contract employees.
We are continuing to develop a detailed working schedule with the goal of achieving an earlier date.As soon as our schedule is complete we will provide it to your staff.We look forward to support of your staff in their detail review of this submittal.
TVA will continue to monitor the progress of implementation of the Browns Ferry Nuclear Performance Plan and provide additional information to.the NRC staff as needed.Very truly yours, TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY 860'F050222 860825 PDR hDOCK 05000259 P PDR'worn fctAnd subscribed before me this~8"&day of C4Ce e'l986.Hy Commission Expires Enclosures cc: See page 2 Manager of Nuclear Power g~c,c.Q 0 Q~pQl'vS PI'~L-g OP-+SgC I c4,.P)4~~l goo An Equal Opportunity Employer enc/~pre
