Dear Mr. Denton:

River Bend Station - Unit 1 Docket No. 50-458 In response to a request made by the NRC Staff, this letter addresses compliance with the Commission's Statement of Policy on Emergency Planning Standard 10 C.F.R. 50.47. (b)(12) as published in 50 Fed. Reg. 20092 (May 21, 1985). The Louisiana Nuclear Energy Division (LNED) has prepared a listing of local and regional hospitals which are capable of handling contaminated injured individuals (June 11, 1985 letter LNED to Federal Emergency Management Agency).' This list will be incorporated in the next revision of the Louisiana Peacetime Radiological Emergency Response Plan.

Moreover, Gulf States Utilities Company commits to fully comply with the Commission's response to further regulations or requirements relating to 50.47(b)(12) to the extent that such compliance is within its control .

To the extent that full compliance is dependent upon action required to be taken for state and/or local governmental agencies or other entities over which GSU has no control, GSU commits to use its best efforts to assure compliance by such agencies or entities.
