C. 20555 Gentiment River Bend Station - Unit 1 Refer to : Region IV Docket No. 50-458/89-45 Gulf States Utilities Cmpany (GSU) is providing this status of actions included in Inspection Report 89-45. This inspection report dealt with dual coil solenoid operated valves (SOVs) used to control Unin steam isolation valves (MSIVs) . Actions to be taken Ly GSU were doctmented in IR 89-45. The following is a status of those actions.
IR 89-45 "The SOVs will be tested on approximately nonthly intervals until the mid-cycle outage."
Status: Completed. Testing of the dual coil SOVs was performnd nonthly prior to the mid-cycle outage.
IR 89-45 "The SOVs will be replaced with SOVs of a different design during the mid-cycle outage if replacment SOVs are available."
status: During the mid-cycle cutage the dual coil SOVs on one inboard and one outboard MSIV were replaced with single coil SOVs.
IR 89-45 "'Ihe SOVs will be tested at quarterly intervals, if not replaced and provided the monthly testing provided acceptable results, until the SOVs can be replaced during the next refueling outage."
Status: The rmaining six dual coil SOVs will be replaced by single coil SOVs during the next refueling outage if the testing of the single coil SOVs proves them to be a satisfactory replacenent. Testing of the dual coil SOVs will continue on nonthly intervals.
