Dear Mr. Denton:

River Bend Station - Unit 1 Docket 50-458 The following information is being provided as requested by the Equipment. Qualification Branch:

1) Attachment 1, item 1 of GSU's July 19, 1985 letter is clarified with the following:

Equipment with natural frequencies between 60Hz to 100Hz that needs to be qualified for hydrodynamic loads is qualified and acceptable for the applicable hydro-dynamic loads.

2) Seismic Qualification for the RCIC turbine assembly is contained in the GE repart NEDC-30791 dated October, 1984.

The report identifies no required modifications to the governor as a result of seismic testing. The RCIC turbine governor was part of the original RBS seismic qualification package from GE.

3) Qualification requirements for seismic Category I equip-ment affected by seismic and othet dynamic loads, as defined in FSAR App. 6A, have been revised to include these loads (i.e. hydrodynamic, annulus pressurization, etc.). The required response spectra (RRS) and the maximum g-values for line mounted equipment have been revised, as required, to include the effects of new loads. In addition, the piping analysis, including the as-built piping analysis, included the new loads. The as-built piping analysis for safety-related equipment has been completed.

4) Item 5 of Section B to GSU's March 29, 1985 letter (RBG-20,594) is updated with the following:

Safety-related pump and valve preoperational tests have been completed. The RBS standby service water pumps (deep draft) have had their 100 hr. test completed (PT-256). Safety-related pumps and valves have been qualified with the exception of Specification 247.497, "Borg Warner Globe Valves."
