MEDIA INTEREST IN FIRE AT GSU ELECTRICAL SUBSTATION Extensive media coverage has been given to a fire at a GSU electrical substation. At approximately 7:45 p.m. (CST) on December 21, 1988, an oil filled breaker in a GSU substation caught fire resulting in a complete loss of the substation. The substation is located approximately 40 miles south of the plant. RBS, which was operating at 95 percent power, was not affected by the event.
The licensee has issued a press release and is respending to news media inquiries).
The NRC does not plan to issue a press release.
