PERSONNEL INJURY DUE TO MAINTENANCE FALL
' On March 8, 1994, at about 6:20 p.m. (CST) a contract worker was injured when he fell into the Blowdown Demineralizer vault. He received minor contamination on his clothing and forehead.
The worker was transported in an ambulance to an area hospital and remains there in ser'.ous condition. Upon arrival at the hospital, the worker was decontaminated. The worker's contaminated clothing was returned to the plant site.
The licensee declared an Unusual Event under its emergency plan. The Undsual Event was terminated at 8:06 f.Y. (CST) upon decontamination of the werker.
.e NRC senior resident inspector observed the worker's removal from the vault and transfer to the ambulance.
The State of Illinois has been notified. The information in this preliminary notification has been reviewed with licensee management.
The licensee notified the NRC Operations Center of the incident at 6:23 p.m. (CST) on March 8, 1994. This information is current as of 10:00 a.m.
