Subject:

FIRE IN CONSTRUCTION WAREHOUSE On December 20, 1987, a fire extensively damaged a construction warehouse used by an electrical contractor on the site. The building was on the owner-controlled area outside the protected area. The fire did not affect operations at the plant itself. Unit I was at 85 percent power, and Unit 2 was preparing for initial fuel loading.

The fire occurred at about 3 p.m. Local fire departments were summoned, and the fire was reported under control at 3:30 p.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The State of Illinois will be notified.

Region III (Chicago) was notified of the fire by the Senior Resident Inspector at about 3 p.m., December 20, 1987. This information is current as of 9 a.m., December 21, 1987.
