PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-77-31 This preliminary i notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Anonymous Telephonic Bomb Threat p
At 3:15 p.m. on August 15, 1977, an anonymous telephone call was received by the quality Assurance and Welding Supervisor,

Chicago Bridge and Iron. The caller stated that "three sticks of W'
dynamite" had been placed in Unit 1 containment. No time of 6
detonation was given. An immediate search was conducted.
No if' explosives were found and the site was not evacuated. Construction gf representatives consider this call to be a prank since there have g:l been recent labor problems. No press release is, planned.

Braidwood Station, which is under construction, is owned by Commonwealth Edison Company.
Unit 1 is about 17% complete. The Station is about
,fj 65 miles southwest of Chicago near the town of Braidwood.
