INITIAL CRITICALITY Unit 2 achieved its initial criticality at 11:50 a.m. (CST) on March 8,1988. The conditions at criticality were as expected. The NRC resident inspectors monitored the preparations for criticality.

The Operating License permitting fuel loading and low power testing was issued on December 18, 1987. Fuel loading was completed on December 27, 1987.

The State of Illinois will be notified.

The licensee is issuing a news announcement.

Region III (Chicago) was notified of the initial criticality at 12:05 p.m. on March 8, 1988.
