' NRC Inspection of Radwaste Storage Area Adjacent to Building 400, Vallecitos Nuclear Center, Pleasanton, CA This letter refers to the special safety inspection conducted by Mr. P. R.
Zurakowski and Mr. J. F. Pang on October 31, 1986; Mr. P. R. Zurakowski on November 14, 21 and 24; at the Radwaste Storage Area located at the rear of Building 400 of your .Vallecitos Nuclear Center.
This inspection consisted of confirmatory radiological surveys performed after all radioactive sources had been removed from the area, necessary decontamination was performed by the licensee and a final detailed survey-report was submitted to this office.
The areas examined and the results of our confirmatory surveys are described in the enclosed inspection report. Based upon the results of these surveys and soil contamination levels, it was determined that the Radwaste Storage Area specified in the report meets the NRC release guidelines for unrestricted use.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room, s
