Inspection at the Vallecitos Nuclear Center This refers to a routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. B. L. Brock and Mr. K. M. Prendergast of this office from March 22-30, and April 11, 1988 of activities authorized by NRC license No. SNM-960 and to the discussion of our findings held with Mr. Darmitzel and other members of your staff at the.
conclusion of the inspection.
Areas examined during this inspection are described in the enclosed inspection report. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of selective examinations of procedures and representative records, interviews with personnel, and observations by the inspector.

During this inspection, it was found that one of your activities appeared to be in violation of NRC requirements.
The item and reference to the pertinent requirement is listed in Appendix A to this letter.
The item has been categorized into a severity level as described'in the NRC Enforcement Policy 10 CFR Part 2, Appendix C.
Your response to this Notice is to be submitted in accordance with the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, as stated in Appendix A, Notice of Violation.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.
