NRC INSPECTION REPORT 70-754/97-01 l
Dear Mr. Stimmell:
An NRC inspection was conducted March 31 and April 1-3,1997, at your Vallecitos Nuclear Center facility. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
i During the inspection, your conduct of activities at the Vallecitos facility was generally characterized by implementation of effective programs in the areas of mans.gement organization and controls, criticality safety, operations, non reportable operational events,
(
operator training and retraining, and maintenance and surveillance testing. However, the lack of timeliness in responding to internal inspection findings and issuance of safety inspection reports indicate the need for management attention in this area.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
