SHUTDOWN 10 REPAIR INSTRUMENT POWER SUPPLY At 6:3U p.m. (CDT) on April 23, 1989, the licensee shut down the reactor because an instrument power supply was found to be inoperable on A)ril 22. The plant's Technical S>ecifications require that the plant be shut down if tie power supply, an inverter which c1anges direct current to alternating current for safety related instrumentation,

cannot be repaired within 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />. The licensee declared an unusual event under its emergency plan.

Th2 cause of the inverter problem was detenninsd to be a faulty capacitor, and the inverter was repaired and returned to service on April 25. The licensee intends to resume operations on April 27.

The State of Illinois will be informed.
