By letter date'd July-19,1984 (NED-84-387), Georgia Power Company (GPC) i submitted details of our plan for environmental qualification of certain items I

of electrical equipment which fall within-the scope of 10 CFR 50.49 at Plant Hatch Unit

The items of concern are Resistance Temperature Detectors, (RTD's) which were specifically listed in Enclosure 1 to the above referenced letter.

GPC has revised the action plan for completing environmental qualification for some' of those ~ listed devices and provides the following l

update for your information.

1 GPC had -previously stated that the above referenced RTD functions, which were then fulfilled using unqualified devices supplied by PYCO, Inc., would be

replaced with ~similar devices manufactured by WEED Instrument Company, Inc.

which:are fully qualified _in accordance with 10 CFR 50.49.

Subsequent to our July 19, 1984 submittal, we.have been able to qualify some of the PYC0 devices

~ listed in enclosure 1 - to that submittal, have deleted some of the RTDs that did not perform any of the functions listed in 10 CFR 50.49(b) and we have.

l replaced two of the PYC0 RTDs 'in the enclosure (T47-N005 and T47-N008) with WEED RTDs (T47-N003 and' T47-N009). to this letter specifies which qualification resolution method was utilized for each numbered sensor.
