SUMMARY

l MONTil: December 1991 McGuire Unit 1 began the month of December. shut down for its end of-cycle '7' refueling outage. The unit was placed on line at 1706 on 12/10 to end tl.e refueling _ outage. The outage extended approximately 3.5 days over its-scheduled 78 day duration due to problems encountered during-the 10 year inservice inspection of the reactor vessel. At 1900 on 12/10, with the: unit _ at 10% power, a digital electro hydraulic

. (Dell) turbine ' control- runback alarm-was received, and the unit ran back to 56 power. Af ter a Deli setpoint adjustment, the unit began-a power increase at 2136'on 12/10. The. unit was held at 10% power from 2223 on 12/10 to 0626 on 12/11 for a turbine soak in preparation for a

~ turbine overspeed trip test. The unit was trippe'd at 0841 on 12/11 for

, . the: test. At 1026 on 12/11, the unit was placed back on line, 'and a power escalation was commenced. During this increase, the unit was

- held _ at 306 power from 2000 on 12/11 to 0046 on 12/12 and at 401 power from 0453 on 12/12 to 0224 on 12/13 for core flux mapping, The next hold was at.77% power-from 1935 on 12/13 to 0930 on 12/14 for nuclear

- instrumentation calibration. The unit was then held at 80% power from

- 1035 ? to 1204 on 12/14'due 'to condensate booster pump low suction pressure. _At 1510 on'12/14. a load reduction was commenced due to a

'high oxygen level-in the hotwell, The unit was held at 79% from 1544 to 1620'on 12/14, A power increase was then be6un,.and the' unit-reached 100% 'fu11 power? at 0713_ on 12/15, - The unit ran at or near 100%

full _ power for the remainder of the month, and ended'the month operating'at'95%. power forireactor' protection system testing.
