Dear Mr. Kappler:
On January 25, 1982, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana Inc. (PSI; notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required b;.10 CFR 50.55(e) . Review of the Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) support steel document packages supplied by Lakeside Bridge &
Steel Co. revealed that records were missing from several packages and the quality of the affected supports was therefore indeterminate.
PSI has initiated a review of NSSS support steel document packages to determine the extent of this concern. To date, several of the missing records have been retrieved from files at Lakeside Bridge and Steel's shop. Review of retrieved radiographic records has indicated that weld repair may be needed for some of the support steel delivered to the site.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e) . PSI will provide more information on the results of this records- review in a further report on or before July 2, 1982. If you have any questions on this matter, please feel free to contact me.
