Dear Mr. Keppler:
On February 28, 1983, Mr. L. G. Yeager of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). A PSI audit of the site HVAC contractor, Pullman Construction Industries, Inc. (PCI), resulted in a number of findings which indicate that PCI has not adequately imple-mented their quality assurance program. It is conceivable that non-conforming conditions could exist and had they gone uncorrected, could have adversely affected the safe operations of the plant.
PCI has responded to the audit findings and PSI has accepted, subject to verif! cation of the corrective action, PCI's dispositions. PCI has satisfactorily completed corrective action on most of the findings.
Work is continuing in the areas of procedure development, records review, and hanger reinspections.
This letter is intended to fulfill the requirements of an interim report as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). A further report will be filed on or before October 14, 1983. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at your convenience.
