Gulf States Utilities Company (GSU) has contacted the Architect Engineer (S&W) and NSSS vendor (G.E.) to review the River Bend Station *

Balance of Plant (BOP) and NSSS scope of supply for the affected gate valves identified in I&E Bulletin 81-02 " Failure of Gate Valves to Close Against Dif#erential Pressure." S&W has completed a review for these valves and has detennined that no such valves are within !<
the BOP scope of supply. G.E. is in the process of reviewing the NSSS scope of supply and will report the results of that review to GSU upon completion. It is currently estimated that the GSU final response vill be submitted to the NRC Region IV, Office of Inspection
& Enforcement by August 18, 1981. At that time, an estimate will be provided on the manpower expended in the review and preparation of the responses requested by Bulletin 81-02.
