On July 7,1981 Gulf Stat.es Utilities Company (GSU) submitted an interim response to Generic Letter No. 81-03, "NUREG-0313, Rev. 1,

Technical Report on Material Selection and Processing Guidelines for BWR Coolant Pressure Boundry Piping (Generic Task A-42) ." In that letter GSU committed to perform a review on River Bend Station's ASME ,

Code Class 2 and 3 stainless steel piping against the " Service Sensitive"  ;

criteria in NUREG-0313, Rev. 1. GSU's position on ASME Code Class 1 stainless '

steel piping was addressed in a letter to the NRC's Mr. Steven A. Varga, dated December 31, 1979. Our review is still in progress and is anticipated to be completed by September 3, 1981.
