Dear Mr. Keppler:
On July 17, 1980, Mr. T. D. Geib of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) notified your office of a potentially reportable item as required by 10 CFR 50.55(e). The support steel supplier for the Nuclear Steam Supply System, Lakeside Bridge and Steel Company, notified PSI that certain radiographs of the steam generator upper lateral support embed =ents did not meet the density requirements of Section V of the ASME BP&V Code. As a result, acceptable radiographs of these embed ents do not exist at this time and their quality is indeter=inate.
PSI is in the process of having the embedments reradiographed in accordance with the requirecents of Section V of the ASME Code. When these radiographs are completed they will be reviewed to deter =ine the quality of the embed ents in question. This letter is intended to fulfill the require =ents of an interim report as defined in 10 CFR 50.55(e).
