Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

River Bend Station - Units 1 & 2 Refer to: RIV Docket Nos. 50-458/I&E Bulletin 79-14 50-439/I&E Bulletin 79-14 Since the River Bend Station is in the initial phases of con; struction (i.e. approximately 6% complete), no seismic Category I piping systems have yet been installed in the field. Therefore, Gulf States cannot inspect the as-built piping systems as requested in the bulletin. It is anticipated that the first construction related to a seismic Category I piping system will begin sometime in late spring 1980. Gulf States therefore commits to perform and document the requested inspections as the construction of the Station progresses. Also, Gulf States will report the results of the inspec-tions to the Region IV Of fice of Inspection and Enforcement. It is presently anticipated that these inspections will be coordinated with start-up and testing of the systems whi:h will take place between November 1982 and June 1983.

Sincerely,

. G. Weiganu General Manager - Nuclear Projects WJR/sbp <-
