DOCKET NO.: 50-335 UNIT: St. Lucie 51 DATE: October 3, 1996 COMPLETED BY: Z.A.ROGERS TELEPHONE: (561) 467-7296 REPORT MONTH Unit 1 remained out of service in Mode 3 at the beginning of the month for repair of the main transformer. Mode 2 was entered at 2032 on September 1; Mode 1 was entered at 2238. On September 2 the unit entered Mode 2 at 1741 for the duration of the transformer repairs. On September 4 the unit entered Mode 1 at 1720. On September 5 the generator was synchronized to the grid at 0350 and the unit was returned to service. The unit reached 60% power at 1845 on September 5. The unit remained at 60% power through September 14 for transformer repairs.

On September 14 the unit began downpowering at 0258; at 0625 the unit was removed from service and entered Mode 2 at 0631. At 2135 on September 14 the unit entered Mode 1. On September 15 at 0144 the generator was synchronized to the grid and the unit was returned to service. At 2055 on September 15 the unit was held at approximately 70%

power due to backpressure limitations and a dropped control element assembly. The unit reached full power operation at 1845 on September 16.

In accordance with the requirements of Technical Specification 6.9.1.6, there were no challenges to the power operated relief valves or the safety valves during the report period. /
