The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri (the applicant) held a telephone conference call on November 25, 2013, to discuss and clarify the staff's requests for additional information (RAis) concerning the Callaway Plant Unit 1 (Callaway) license renewal application. provides a list of the participants and Enclosure 2 contains a description of the staff concerns discussed with the applicant. SUMMARY

OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE CALL CALLAWAY LICENSE RENEWAL APPLICATION November 25, 2013 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC or the staff) and representatives of Union Electric Company d/b/a Ameren Missouri {the applicant) held a telephone conference call on November 25, 2013, to discuss and clarify the following requests for additional information (RAis) concerning the Callaway license renewal application (LRA).

Draft RAI 3.3.2-2: Submerged carbon steel and stainless steel closure bolting Discussion:

The staff provided clarification of its concerns as described in Draft RAI 3.3.2-2 which was provided to the applicant previous to the telephone conference call. The applicant stated that it understood the staff's concerns.

Action: The staff will formally issue RAI 3.3.2-2.

LRA Commitments No. 34 and 35 Discussion:

The staff stated that it has concerns with the implementation date provided by the applicant if it selects to provide an analysis consistent with Option 2 in Commitments No. 34 and 35. The staff stated that if the applicant where to pursue Option 2 it should provide such analysis earlier.

The applicant stated that it understood the staff's concern and will try to address it in its LRA Annual Update to be provided on December 2013.

Action: Applicant to revise commitments on its December 2013 LRA Annual Update.

Technical Comment No. 41: Flow-Accelerated Corrosion Program Discussion:

By letter dated June 5, 2013, the applicant provided comments for the staff's consideration on the NRC's "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Callaway Plant, Unit 1," issued on April, 23,2013. Technical Comment No. 41, which is associated with the staff's evaluation of the Flow-Accelerated Corrosion Program, discussed details of the applicant's revision to its Engineering Design Guide ME-13. Based on the revised wording provided by the applicant, the staff stated that it had concerns about possible implications with Ameren's interpretation of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Code. The applicant requested that the telephone conference call be re-scheduled in order to have the personnel it needed to address the staffs concern.

Action: The telephone conference call will be re-scheduled.
