MD5262, MD5263, and MD5264)," dated November 9, 2012 By letters dated June 28, 2004 (Reference 1) and June 25, 2004 (Reference 2), the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted license amendment applications for the Extended Power Uprate (EPU) of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN) Unit 1, and BFN Units 2 and 3, respectively.

The proposed amendments would modify the operating licenses to increase the maximum authorized core thermal power level by approximately 14 percent to 3952 megawatts.

This letter provides TVA's current plans for the EPU project. This letter updates and supersedes the plans and schedules discussed by TVA in its letter dated November 9, 2012 (Reference 3).

U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 February 11, 2013 Currently, TVA plans to submit an updated EPU submittal after completion of the following actions:

Revise the containment accident pressure (CAP) analysis; Complete the design and engineering analyses for planned replacement steam dryers; Review and revise, as necessary, all information provided in the previous Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant EPU submittals.

In the spring of 2013, TVA expects to complete the CAP analysis for EPU to incorporate the current NRC review criteria. Prior to submitting the CAP analysis, TVA will meet with NRC staff to discuss the analysis with NRC staff. The Tennessee Valley Authority will work with the NRC Project Manager to identify an appropriate date for such a meeting.

In the spring of 2013, TVA plans to initiate analyses of the new General Electric-Hitachi replacement steam dryers with estimated completion by summer of 2014.

In December 2012, the EPU Project began a review of the EPU applications and associated EPU docketed correspondence to confirm they contain accurate information regarding the current design of BFN Units 1, 2 and 3 including changes to the plant design that have occurred since the submittal of References 1 and 2.

The objectives of the review include the following:

Perform reviews of previously submitted EPU correspondence to determine if it is relevant and accurate; Perform reviews of documents that may have changed or may change the facility in a fundamental way so as to make statements in the EPU docketed correspondence inaccurate;

" After the reviews are complete, revise all documents which contain any superseded inaccurate and irrelevant information in previous EPU submittals.
