ATTACHMENT C NARRATIVE OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE DOCKET NO: 50-410 UNIT NAME: NMP#2 DATE: 6/02103 PREPARED BY: T. McMahon TELEPHONE: (315) 3494045 Nine Mile Point Unit Two operated with a capacity factor (MDC) of 97.74% and an availability factor of 100% for the month of May 2003.

On May 16, 2003 at 1440 hours0.0167 days <br />0.4 hours <br />0.00238 weeks <br />5.4792e-4 months <br />, a downpower to approximately 90% power was initiated to support offgas sampling for evaluation of a potential fuel defect. Upon reaching 90% power, at 1523 hours0.0176 days <br />0.423 hours <br />0.00252 weeks <br />5.795015e-4 months <br /> control rod 18-51 was scrammed for power suppression. Reactor power was restored to 100% at 2126 hours0.0246 days <br />0.591 hours <br />0.00352 weeks <br />8.08943e-4 months <br /> the same day.

On May 21, 2003 at 0000 hours0 days <br />0 hours <br />0 weeks <br />0 months <br /> a planned downpower to approximately 55% for power suppression testing was initiated. Based on this testing control rod 30-31 was fully inserted to reduce stress on the associated fuel bundles, one of which is believed to have a fuel defect. After completion of this testing, full power was restored on May 24, 2003 at 1702 hours0.0197 days <br />0.473 hours <br />0.00281 weeks <br />6.47611e-4 months <br />.

On May 25, 2003 at 2200 hours0.0255 days <br />0.611 hours <br />0.00364 weeks <br />8.371e-4 months <br /> a planned power reduction to approximately 88% power was performed to raise rod line. After completion of the rod line maneuvers, full power was restored at 0301 hours0.00348 days <br />0.0836 hours <br />4.976852e-4 weeks <br />1.145305e-4 months <br /> on May 26, 2003.

On May 31, 2003 at 0115 hours0.00133 days <br />0.0319 hours <br />1.901455e-4 weeks <br />4.37575e-5 months <br /> an unplanned downpower to approximately 55% for power suppression testing was initiated. The unit was operating at reduced power for power suppression testing at the end of this month.

There were no challenges to the safety relief valves during this reporting period.
