NINE MILE POINT NUCLEAR STATION UNIT #2

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Nine Mile Point Unit Two operated with a capacity factor (MDC) of 101.41% and an availability factor of 100% for the month of August, 2002.

At 1523 hours0.0176 days <br />0.423 hours <br />0.00252 weeks <br />5.795015e-4 months <br /> on August 20, 2002, control rod 14-51 was fully inserted, because of a leak on the associated hydraulic control unit. Control rod insertion reduced reactor power to approximately 98%. Reactor power was then raised to 100% of rated power. The leak was repaired and at 2307 hours0.0267 days <br />0.641 hours <br />0.00381 weeks <br />8.778135e-4 months <br />, reactor power was lowered to 94% to permit withdrawal of control rod 14-51 to the fully withdrawn position. Full power operation was resumed on August 21, 2002, at 0100 hours0.00116 days <br />0.0278 hours <br />1.653439e-4 weeks <br />3.805e-5 months <br />.

There were no challenges to the safety relief valves during this reporting period.
