85. This LAR would modify the source range neutron flux requirements to allow the use )

of alternate detectors and was submitted on December 19,1997.

The inclusion of the detector mark numbers in the technical specifications has been 3 determined _ to be an unnecessary restriction; therefore, the proposed technical specification change has been modified by removing the detector mark numbers. It is requested that the applicable marked-up pages provided in the December 19, ~ 1997, submittal be replaced with those provided in Attachments 1-1 and 1-2, for Units I and 2, respectively. A description of the changes is provided in Attachment 2 which involves removing the detector mark numbers and relocating associated notes. Attachment 3 provides a description of the alternate source range detector requirements and basis. A marked-up Attachment B from the original submittal is included in Attachment 4 which j

'j has been revised by removing reference to the identification of the mark numbers on the technical specification pages. The typed version of the revised Attachment B is provided

in Attachment 5; please replace the originally submitted Attachment B with that provided i 33/

This change has been reviewed by the Beaver Valley review committees. The ,
